What to do in June

It’s June! School’s out, pools are open, and most of you are probably dreaming of your upcoming beach vacations. But before the summer heat sets in completely, consider brushing up on your nonprofit communications acumen at one of Big Duck’s June workshops.

First, on June 14, from 9-11am, Big Duck Principal Sarah Durham will present a workshop on Brandraising for Brooklyn-based nonprofits. This workshop, co-hosted with the Brooklyn Community Foundation and DUMBO Improvement District, will show you how to apply the concepts of Sarah’s book, Brandraising: How Nonprofits Raise Visibility and Money Through Smart Communications, to improve your organization’s communications.

Not a Brooklyn-based nonproft? We’ve got plenty of other offerings to wet your communications whistle.

Take a trip to our nation’s capital. Learn some history, see the Hope Diamond, and don’t miss Big Duck VP Farra Trompeter. She’ll be in DC on June 14, 9-11am, along with Dane Grams from Care2 and Danielle Brigida from the National Wildlife Foundation. Together, they’ll present a workshop on Multichannel Fundraising Strategies and Tactics. 

Is It Time to Rethink Your Website? On June 20, from 2-3pm, Farra will lead a webinar to help you answer this question. She’ll also offer tips for keeping your site current and interactive. This webinar is based on her critically acclaimed 12NTC session.

Then on June 22, Sarah’s shipping up to Boston to present a workshop, The Nuts and Bolts of Pricing and Negotiation, at the HOW Design Live conference. Join her for some tips on creating a pricing structure for your business.

Finally, come back to Brooklyn on June 27th, 9-11am, for Bagels at Big Duck: How to Write for the Web. Big Duck Director of Copywriting Dan Gunderman and Strategist Madeleine Milan will explore how people “read” on the web, and show how to present information in a way that’s accessible to your online audience.  Plus, there will be bagels–and coffee.
