The “Donate” button is not enough

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of being on a panel at NTEN’s 2009 Nonprofit Technology Conference titled, “Why The Donate Button Isn’t Enough: Designing program-centric appeals online.” The panel featured a great case study from Trout Unlimited, as well as the advice and pearls of wisdom from myself and two other consultants from Watershed Company and Northridge Interactive. Together, Amanda, Steve, Will and I offered some pointers about: * How to engage site visitors — leading them to learn more and motivate them to give * Ways to develop compelling appeals tied to your mission * Hallmarks of a great online appeal * New ideas to spruce up your site based on a critique of others If your organization is looking to increase the money it raises online (especially in this magical holiday season), you may want to watch this session. The good folks at CauseCast.org were kind enough to simulcast it for your viewing pleasure.
