Getting your donors to fall in love with you
Fundraising. It’s why so many nonprofits communicate and a necessary ingredient to support your mission. Some organizations are lucky to have donations pouring in, while others have to work quite hard at it. Whether getting those new gifts comes easy or hard for you, most organizations struggle with keeping donors. The problem: donor retention. The solution: well… smart communications!
Like many of my nonprofiteer friends, I’ve been thinking a lot about this issue and have led some workshops about it under the banner of, “Getting donors to fall in love with you.” Last month, in connection with Valentine’s Day, I got to share some smarts on this topic at 501 Tech NYC (a local meetup for NTEN members and their friends). Together with one of our clients, Will Nolan from Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, we reviewed why this matters, ways to tell if your donors love you, and how to get donors to fall in love with you (with some great pointers and examples).
If this is a topic you want to learn more about, start by watching the video and slides below.
Special thanks to Lane Beauchamp and Mo Brady of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS for donating their awesome video skills and filming the event.
You can also join our 501 Tech NYC group on Facebook—it is open to all.
