Design with a View

Sonny Mui

This past Memorial Day weekend, I paid a visit to New York’s Governors Island. Besides the island being a destination onto itself, there was another reason to be there: the Cooper-Hewitt and the Walker Art Center are co-sponsoring a summer exhibition there called “Graphic Design–Now in Production“.

From a designer’s standpoint, this exhibition is a nice snapshot on what’s going on in the world of design. While not all-encompassing, there’s just enough work on display to whet the appetite. There’s a focus on recent notable works, and how changing mediums provide new outlets for designers to express themselves. If you’re in the neighborhood, hop onto the ferry and check it out. Did I mention that it’s also free?

Looks like most people preferred the old Starbucks logo.
