Big Bird Newsjacks the Presidential Debates

Mitt Romney sparked some pretty heated discussion, particularly on Twitter when he mentioned that if he became president, he’d cut funding to PBS. Nothing terrifies me more than the idea of a PBS and our beloved Big Duck cousin Big Bird ceasing to exist. Have you seen History Detectives?!.

In response, PBS has enlisted a technique known as “newsjacking” to take the enormous attention given to Mitt Romney’s comments and refocuse it as to exactly why PBS matters. I won’t explain for you here but here’s a hint: it’s extremely sharp and employs social media.
